The great Nanni Moretti, to whom we owe films such as Mia Madre, Habemus Papam, or The Caiman, is back with his new director: Tre Piani. Through this touching and unprecedented work, the filmmaker tells the notion of parenthood through different stages of existence. For this, he follows different inhabitants of the same building, of various ages, but all fathers and mothers.

Worn in particular by Riccardo Scamarcio, Margherita Buy and Nanni Moretti himself, Tri Piani is a deeply touching work on the exercise of parenthood. With a positive simplicity, without fuss or visual exaggeration, the filmmaker draws up the whole life of different individuals. Through several portraits, he reconstructs the existential line of a father or a mother, at different ages. 
Thus, through different characters at different times, he highlights the condition of the pregnant woman, then young parents, then parents of confirmed ages who must face the dangerous adolescence, then, finally, the status of grandparent. Each age brings with it different peregrinations, different themes, and anxieties specific to each era of existence. In two hours, the filmmaker tells what life is like as a parent in modern society!

Thus, through the prism of an intelligent closed door within a building, he questions the place of the father, the mother, but also the couple. It highlights the often fragile evolution of these three statuses, thus reminding us that the couple is ultimately only there to help the offspring fly on their own wings.
