Tom Hanks behind the coronavirus vaccine? This is not the pitch of an upcoming film but indeed a fact from real life… Tom Hanks was the first movie celebrity to contract the coronavirus last March. Now cured, the actor and his wife Rita Wilson donated their blood to help research for a treatment for the pandemic that continues to plague the world. As a reminder, Tom Hanks had contracted the virus in Australia during the pre-production of the biopic on Elvis Presley directed by Baz Luhrmann. And it is with his little touch of humor that the actor said at the microphone of the American podcast Don't Tell Me :
"The question is now, and now? What are we going to do? What can we do? And in fact, we learned that we have developed antibodies resistant to the virus. We were certainly contacted, but we also offered ourselves: "You want samples of our blood? Can we also donate plasma?" And hopefully, our donation will go to the place where we can find what I'd like to call a 'hank-cin'."
Thus, after several weeks of treatment, Tom Hanks and his wife were able to return home to the United States. There, they actively testify about their experience and the importance of respecting the barrier gestures recommended to slow down the pandemic. But Tom Hanks ' struggle is on all fronts. Indeed, a few days ago, the famous actor with a big heart had sent a letter to Corona, a young Australian harassed by his classmates because of his first name, telling him that he did not know anyone calling himself "like the crown around the sun". The letter ended with the phrase "I am your friend", taken from the movie Toy Story. A very nice gesture that illustrates once again the fierce battle led by Tom Hanks against the coronavirus. It is hoped that this merciless struggle will bear fruit with the appearance very soon of a treatment against the virus.
