Expected in theaters in July, SpongeBob SquarePants: Sponge in Troubled Waters was to be one of the machines to revive the craze of the big screen with the spectators. Eventually, the film heads to Netflix. Indeed, after two adventures, the third, centered on the most joyful of sponges, was one of the big pieces of summer in the cinema. Only, Paramount announced at the end of June that the film would be released in America on the CBS All Access streaming platform. This one belongs to ViacomCBS, the parent company. Variety has now clarified the situation. It seems that this new SpongeBob movie has been picked up by Netflix around the world. With some exceptions, such as China, where Netflix does not exist. Nor in the United States since CBS All Access would take care of it. This is not the first time that Netflix inherits Paramount film production as with Annihilation or the third installment of Cloverfield. Or, on the series side, with the next live-action series adaptation of the excellent animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender. In any case, if SpongeBob SquarePants may not be available in the land of Uncle Sam until 2021, nothing prevents Netflix from releasing the film before in other countries. So to see Bob accompanied by Patrick in the Lost City of Atlantic City in search of Gary, his snail, it will take a little more patience. But who knows, maybe Tim Hill's film (screenwriter on the original series) will be favored by Netflix for this summer in France?
