Spider-Man is one of the most popular superheroes among fans. Indeed, it owes its popularity to its sympathy capital and its origin story with which we easily identify. Sometimes a young high school student, sometimes a journalist or a young African-American teenager, the web weaver has had the right to several incarnations in cinema and elsewhere. However, although many films have been released, some have not had the chance to see the light of day.
Spider-Man 4
We start with heavy! Sam Raimi's trilogy is surely the most cult adaptation of the adventures of Spider-Man. A real box office hit, the saga still had a bright future ahead of it. Although the third installment is considered worse than the first two because of its plot and abundance of antagonists, a Spider-Man 4 was still considered. Sony wanted to capitalize as quickly as possible on the success of the franchise. On the other hand, Sam Raimi wanted to be more patient, he did not want to repeat the same mistakes as the previous film. Indeed, the director wanted a film at the height of the first two. Because of many differences, the project was aborted and Sony opted for a reboot of the story. 
The Amazing Spider-Man 3 & 4
Did you think you knew Peter Parker's story perfectly? Sony doubts it. So what could be better than remaking the origin story of the spider man? In this reboot released in 2012, it is Andrew Garfield who lends his features to the superhero. The first part is a rather successful part, the second much less. However, Sony still signs for a third and fourth opus. Unfortunately, the studio is experiencing some financial problems. This is where Disney comes into play by offering to buy the rights to Spider-Man and include the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The sequel, you know it: Tom Holland becomes the new web weaver and the sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man will never see the light of day. 
Sinister Six
Before selling the rights to Disney, Sony had planned to shoot two spin-offs of The Amazing Spider-Man films: Venom and Sinister Six. The second was focused on the group of supervillains who make life difficult for our poor Spider-Man. It was therefore in 2013 that the making of the film was mentioned. While the Venom movie has seen the light of day (a sequel is planned for 2021), the same cannot be said for Sinister Six. Which is a shame because we could have seen a beautiful cast of iconic villains like the green goblin, the vulture or Doctor Octopus, all gathered in the cinema. 
A version by James Cameron
Cameron's Spider-Man could have been unheard of at the time. Indeed, in the early 90s, he had a much more mature and dark vision of the adventures of the spider man. Contrary to the current comic interpretations of Holland or the escapades of Maguire, Cameron's hero was very serious unlike the pre-pubescent Peter Parker that we know well. However, due to rights issues, James Cameron 's project never saw the light of day. Sony eventually regained the rights and entrusted the project years later to Sam Raimi. 
Cannon Studios' Spider-Man
After the failure of Superman III at the box office, superhero movies are no longer too popular. After reaching an agreement with Marvel, Cannon Studios decided to adapt the adventures of Spider-Man on the big screen. However, the directors misunderstood the concept of the work and wanted to make it a horror film. They recruited Tobe Hopper (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2) as the film's director. In the scenario, Peter Parker transformed into a kind of eight-legged mutant tarantula, after being exposed to radioactive rays… Fortunately, Stan Lee did not validate the project, judging that it was too far from the original work. In conclusion, Spider-Man could have benefited from many more film adaptations. Some might have worked, others were less convincing. What is certain is that the next installment of Spider-Man is scheduled for 2021 !
