It's done! The famous MGM logo representing a roaring lion will be replaced by an animal in computer graphics. The new symbol was supposed to be presented at the release of Dying Can Wait but following the postponement of the film, it was unveiled online.

No more roaring for the MGM lion! Indeed, after more than a century of good and loyal service, Leo the lion, mascot of the MGM studio since 1916, will be able to retire. MGM has just unveiled its new logo online. It is still a lion but in computer graphics this time. Over the decades, the studio has already changed its logo several times. In total, no less than 8 lions have succeeded each other. The most famous has been in use since 1957. Thus, 2021 marks a turning point since it will be the first animal in CGI (for Computeur Generated Imagery). Note that the logo should have been presented at the release of Dying Can Wait, but due to the successive postponements of the feature film, MGM preferred to unveil it online. The new CGI mascot will make its debut in American cinemas next July, with the release of the comedy Dog by and with Channing Tatum and the biopic Respect dedicated to Aretha Franklin which should be released in our French theaters on August 18.
