Good news! A new Hunger Games movie will be released expanding the universe of the saga. In four films, the Hunger Games saga has grossed some $3 billion at the global box office. And guess what?! The saga is about to return to the cinema with a new film, a prequel this time. Indeed, Lionsgate has just acquired the rights to the prequel novel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snake, by Suzanne Collins. This novel will be published in the coming days in bookstores. The studio announced that development of the project was officially underway. Thus, there will be a new Hunger Games movie, but this one will take place before the events of Katniss Everdeen.

Focus on President Snow

In this prequel novel, we will follow in the footsteps of the young Coriolanus Snow – future President Snow – at the age of 18, that is to say long before he became the tyrannical ruler of Panem. While his family has fallen on hard times, Snow has an opportunity to change his destiny, having been chosen to be a mentor in the tenth Hunger Games. But his hopes will be dashed because he will be in charge of guiding the girl of District 12… Hunger Games Snow Hunger Games: A prequel will complete the saga! On the casting side, nothing has started yet. However, Lionsgate studo president Joe Drake said that "Suzanne's new book was worth the wait" and that it breaks new ground "in the young adult franchise and introduces an entirely new gallery of characters." On the other hand, on the production side, Nina Jacobson, who had produced the original saga, will again be at the helm. She will be alongside Suzanne Collins, who will be a producer and also co-writer, with Oscar-winner Michael Arndt, the one who wrote Little Miss Sunshine. Francis Lawrence, who directed all the Hunger Games films except the first installment, will still be behind the camera. If the producers say they want to start filming as soon as the health crisis is over, we are already impatient!
