Foundation is a science fiction literary saga written by Isaac Asimov in the 1940s. After buying the rights two years ago, Apple finally reveals the first images of its adaptation. It was indeed during the first day of the WWDC (Apple Worldwide Developers Conference) 2020, in which Apple reveals information about its devices, that the Foundation trailer was released.

A very big budget adaptation

The serial adaptation is based on the book Foundation by Isaac Asimov, a Russian-American writer and scientist. It will be supervised by David S. Goyer, screenwriter of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight in cinema, as well as Josh Friedman. The story will therefore follow that of the book. It takes place 22,000 years in the future, after the Earth became uninhabitable for humans. It focuses on saving humanity and the Galactic Empire following the predictions of a mathematician, this era would end in ten thousand years. To save this Empire, he created the Foundation. Five novels with terms similar to those of the immense Star Wars saga, as Goyer himself says in the trailer "Foundation was a huge influence for Star Wars". We therefore expect a space opera in all its splendour. A budget that seems colossal to believe the images and special effects. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgbPSA94Rqg

The cast partly unveiled

Jared Harris will play the role of mathematician Hari Seldon, he is best known for his performance in HBO 's Chernobyl. As for Salvor Hardin, a man in the writer's novel, he will be a woman in the adaptation. She will be portrayed by actress Leah Harvey. The role of Gaal Dornick was given to Lou Llobell. We will also find Lee Pace (The Hobbit), Terrence Mann and Cassian Bilton. Filming for the series had begun in Ireland, but was halted in mid-March due to the pandemic. The release date is for the moment still quite unclear since we simply know that the TV series should be released in 2021.
