But Camouflaj's game is also a cruel return to reality! The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima aren't the only PS4 exclusives that keep players waiting. While Marvel continues its video game momentum with the announcement of a Spider Man spin-off dedicated to Miles Morales, Camouflaj studio finally reveals the extent of Tony Stark's power in Marvel's Iron Man VR. Postponed because of Covid-19, here it is at last! Focus! How to identify with Iron Man and get the player into his shoes? The armored hero had never really had good video game adaptations. For example, Sega having planted itself in beauty on the reinterpretations of the film. However, since the creation of VR and the immersion it offers to the player, it was obvious that this would be how we could take the place of Tony Stark. In addition, Marvel adaptations have a real artistic touch if we count the Spider Man of Insomniac Games. It was to be expected, Iron Man VR is not only an experience, it is a real full-fledged game with a very satisfying lifespan. However, isn't this also its greatest weakness? Marvel's Iron Man VR takes some scripted traces of the MCU films without being part of it. Tony Stark having given up arms sales, he devotes himself to goals that distance him from his dubious past. Unfortunately, he finds himself confronted by the Ghost (Ant-Man 2) who wants him to pay for all the victims his weapons may have killed… In short, it is time for Iron Man to become a hero again through a scenario, unpublished, which will delight fans of the character. Too bad it is not as deep and often serves as a pretext, unlike Spider-Man.  marvel s iron man vr 5f0305ad34bb1 Test "Marvel's Iron Man VR" (Sony): an armor with gaps in flight...

I'm Iron Man! Yes, but…

Being a VR game, Marvel's Iron Man VR can be a bit difficult to pick up in the first few hours. However, players manage to get used to it very quickly and end up handling the gameplay like a professional. Simply move both PS Moves in your hands to successfully pull, make a 360° turn or accelerate by extending your arms to the back. Your body becomes one with Tony's armor! During the first hours of play, having the feeling of being Iron Man and flying is most enjoyable! It's a daydream for any fan! Unfortunately, there are some gaps in gameplay due to motion detections that can have trouble recognizing what you're doing and make you feel like you're losing the total immersion of the armor. Nothing disabling, but it can be painful after a dozen times. Especially since this splendid immersion by the gameplay is parasitized by loading times much too long. Even worse, once the element of surprise has passed, the game suffers from far too much repetitiveness. There are works that have managed to energize this feeling of repetition to keep the player until the end. That is absolutely not the case here. The objectives, the bestiary and the way to complete the missions do not really innovate. Indeed, only the appearances of the bosses or the great moments of staging make you want to continue the game. It's a shame, because Ghost is a fascinating character who still deserved a better exploitation. marvel iron man vr 4 Test "Marvel's Iron Man VR" (Sony): an armor with gaps in flight...

Fly, shoot and start again!

Marvel's Iron Man VR is then only a classic shoot'em up with great moments of bravery, but also very redundant. Let's take an example: in one of the missions (of which there are twelve), the enemies will land in waves, all around you. In total, there are six different types of opponents, drones that make up the meager bestiary of the game. The first assault eliminated, we must move on to the second and so on. It is not the desire to vary that stifles developers… Fortunately, the lifespan of the game is very convincing thanks to the challenge mode and the desire to get the highest score in each chapter. Vary your combos, be quick and precise and you'll get the top marks every time, giving you the keys to customize your amazing armor. It's just unfortunate that the scenario doesn't make you want to go back to the missions…

An almost perfect immersion!

Certainly the repetitiveness and redundancy of the work do not deprive it of its very successful immersion, but it is imperfect. Camouflaj does a fantastic job on the sound by making the armor resonate with a metallic noise with each movement. In addition to that, being accompanied by Friday and Gunsmith, two artificial intelligences that will never surpass Jarvis, is very pleasant, especially since they bring a good (too?) Dose of humor to all this robot war! The music is catchy and perfectly matches the atmosphere of the game. The dubbing in French is also very successful (even if the French dubbing of Robert Downey Jr, Bernard Gabay, is missing). However, it reminds us that we are not really the Iron Man we have known since the MCU in 2008.

unfortunately…

Admittedly, the game suffers from too big gaps in graphics. More precisely at the level of the decors which are often very empty and not very diversified. Not to mention the too big aliasing drops that regularly hit the game as well as the slowdowns that can sometimes be suffered. It feels like you're in faulty armor. And it gets annoying very quickly when this kind of thing happens. There's even a chapter of the game where the graphics technique is below a lot of VR experiences done before. Even Megaton Rainfall did better and it hurts to compare this small indie game to a big Marvel production. However, can we question the importance of graphics in a game where finally the gameplay becomes the master? Fortunately, Iron Man's armor is very pretty… Let's hope that an update will manage to put an end to some of its sad wanderings… iron man vr Test "Marvel's Iron Man VR" (Sony): an armor with gaps in flight... So is Marvel's Iron Man VR a good experience? It is pleasant and gives life to a daydream. It allows us to imagine ourselves without any problem and in a very fun way in the role of Tony Stark. The game could be blamed for its graphical errors, loading times and repetitiveness in the service of a sluggish scenario. But despite all this, we manage to have a very good time. But it reminds us of course that once the console is turned off, we are no longer Iron Man… And we may not want to be after the end credits. At a low price, without a doubt…
