Second day of the Main Square festival 2016: pure and hard rock, pop and big headliners on the program. From Mass Hysteria to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, to Walk Off The Earth, check out our recap of the second day.

While the first day of this 2016 edition of Main Square had started in the mud and in an almost continuous rain, luck decided to smile on festival-goers this Saturday, July 2.

    Lonely The Brave

First of all , the group Lonely The Brave, from Cambridge, opened this second day. Their sinful rock was able to surround the first spectators of the main stage, but it must be admitted that the public was rather waiting for the big names announced on the program of the day.

    Mass Hysteria

Speaking of rock stars, it was the furious madmen of Mass Hysteria who succeeded the young English. Riffs of guitars, circle pit and wall of death were at the rendezvous during this show that will surely mark the annals of Main Square. We will remember in particular the crowd bath of Mouss Kelai, singer of the group, and the fervor of the fans who drank the words of their idol.

    Walk Off The Earth

In a completely different genre, we were also able to see the members of Walk Off The Earth. Discovered on Youtube thanks to their amazing videos in which they cover the hits of Pharrel Williams, Justin Bieber or Gotye, the Canadians have found a real audience in France and have been welcomed like royalty on the stage of the Citadel of Arras. Between covers and original titles, Walk Off The Earth delivered a show worthy of the name.

    The Offspring

Suddenly, the crowd seemed to double in size and a kind of anxiety ran through the group of festival-goers. THE headliner of the day was coming, and with this group, you never know what to expect. Finally, on time and still in shape, The Offspring landed on stage, allowing all the teenagers of the 90's to find the rage to live of their 15 years. Each title of the Californians was taken in heart by the crowd, proving that The Offspring could always count on their French fans. Personally, I think the highlight of the show was the title Why Don't You Get A Job, the band's flagship song that everyone must know like the back of their hand!

    Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

Another star of the festival, the rapper Macklemore. Always accompanied by his accomplice Ryan Lewis, the American found the French public, whose praises he did not stop singing throughout his set. This must have delighted the horde of groupies who had made the crane foot near the main stage so as not to miss a second of their idol's show. Not disturbing in theory, but it seems complicated to enjoy a show when you go from a fit of tears to moments of hysteria. pathetic. As for the Macklemore show, nothing to say. The artist kept his promises and was able to offer festival-goers a pure moment of hip hop dancing as only Americans know how to do.

On the side of the Green Room, the other stage of Main Square, we note the passages of Marina Kaye and Nekfeu. But also that of Cardri, the winning group of Main Square 2016, which was able to perform alongside the big names in music. It must be admitted that they were doubly lucky, because they avoided the vagaries of our dear region. The hip hop duo, led by a very young 18-year-old singer, ensured at least as much as the other artists of the day. Carried by the cheers of the crowd, the young artists offered a beautiful show that portends the best for the rest of their career.
