After his role as Whitey Bulger in "Strictly Criminal", where he was nominated for the role of best actor at the Oscars, Johnny Depp could again interpret a "realistic" character in "Triple Frontier". The film, a thriller, would take place in South America, between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil. Johnny Depp, who would have read the script written by Mark Boal, Charles Roven and Alex Gartner, would have shown a concrete interest in the idea of acting in the film that Kathryn Bigelow (Zero Dark Thirty), was supposed to direct. Since then, it's J.C. Chandor (A Most Violent Year) who was chosen to replace the director. But Johnny Depp is not the only pundit who could integrate the cast of "Triple Frontier", since a certain Tom Hanks could also appear, while Will Smith would also have been contacted, unfortunately without follow-up since he is already working on another shoot, that of "Collateral Beauty". The film could therefore bring together on screen two major actors of American cinema, for a scenario that we hope will live up to their fame.
