"Love is giving what you don't have, to someone who doesn't want it." This is how the opening track of Her's second EP, simply called Her Tape #2, ends. Between femininity, sensuality and passion, the French pop-soul duo succeeds in the challenge of offering a second EP as good, or even better than the previous one, released a little over a year ago.

2016 was an emotional year for Her, a duo composed of Victor and Simon, both from Rennes. After the release of Her Tape #1 in January, the two boys continued to flirt with success. Opening for Foals on their French dates in February, and then appearing at major festivals such as Les Vieilles Charrues throughout the summer, the band gained international recognition when their song Five Minutes was used for an Apple commercial in June.

The two virtuosos are back today with Her Tape #2 which will be in stores this Friday, April 7. Same cover with different colors, same format with an introduction, an interlude and 4 songs, same style with innovative mixes: Her reinvents itself in the best way. From the name of the group to the lyrics of the songs and the voices used, the duo gives women a voice by putting them on the front of the stage. Thus, in the middle of this EP evoking motherhood, we can hear the mothers of the two young men reading Handke's poem "Wings of Desire" in German through sublime instrumental compositions highlighting the fragility and strength that their voices bring out.

"Swim against the tide, walk against the flow"

Through this EP, Victor and Simon cultivate an ode to difference and equality, especially in Swim, at this time troubled by a lack of gathering. Nevertheless, this gathering cannot happen without the equality of women and men in society. Like Union on Her Tape #1, Queens empowers women. The more marked and edgy rhythm of the song perfectly represents the strong women "queens" of the21st century.

Between subtle verses and rhythmic choruses, we feel that every second of this EP has been cared for to perfection by the two young men. As a result, these six titles score. Whether by the few piano notes of the interlude, the touching and exhilarating lyrics or the last seconds of Queens, the duo manages to share a large number of emotions.

Following the success of Her Tape #1 and the very danceable Five Minutes, Her's return was a risky bet. However, the new compositions with varied influences of each song sublimate their two voices in a surprising way. Finally, Her, they are two boys enormously inspired by women who wish to hide behind them and give them power after they have been oppressed for so many centuries. Transparent of feminism, elegance and intelligence, this second EP of the Rennes duo has all the cards in hand to lead them to success. Their concert next week at the Gaité Lyrique has already been sold out for a long time. To discover absolutely!

"Her Tape #2" is released this Friday, April 7, on the Barclay label.
