We all know J.J. Abrams, creator of Lost, successful screenwriter and recognized director, or Dick Wolf, renowned producer to whom we owe the franchises New York Police Judiciaire but also Chicago Fire and its extended universe. But there is one man we know less and who nevertheless deserves a little attention on his journey: Greg Berlanti.
Greg Berlanti is a man who matters right now on American television. For the 2015-2016 season, he could even boast of being the only one to have six series produced by him broadcast on three different networks!
And yet, this great gentleman of today started a little while ago.
The first weapons
Born on May 24, 1972 in New York State, Greg Berlanti took his first steps as a writer and executive producer of Dawson's Creek, broadcast from 1998 to 2003 on WB, but also of its short spin-off Young Americans.
In 2002, he was offered his first series, a certain Everwood, about the life of a small town where we followed the adventures of Dr. Brown, a famous neurosurgeon, who put everything to be closer to his children and live a simpler life. A critical success.
In 2003, he created what is certainly his most accomplished and personal series, Jack & Bobby, where we followed two brothers, one of whom would become the future President of the United States while the other would know a more tragic fate. A little-known series, which lasted only for one and only season.
This was followed by participation in Brothers and Sisters (2006-2007), then the creation of Eli Stone and No Ordinary Family, which were not successful.
Success
But it is thanks to superheroes that Greg Berlanti acquires a certain notoriety, since he is at the same time co-creator, writer and executive producer of Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl ! A real hit and an extended universe in 2016.
Nothing stops our man who is about to launch this season the series Riverdale on CW, and is actively involved in other projects like Black Lightning and Freedom Fighters: The Ray, scheduled for 2017, as well as the movie Booster Gold.
Cinema
Note that Greg Berlanti also made a foray into cinema through the film The Club of Broken Hearts, which focuses on the life of a group of young homosexuals living in Los Angeles, their personal struggles, the ups and downs of their friendships. A story from his own experience. He is also the director of Baby Manual in 2010 and the screenwriter of the film Green Lantern (2011).
Let's bet that we have not finished hearing about him, whether in the small world of television or in that of the seventh art!
