OUR TOPS

Sense8, season 2

Cécile : After an incredible first season two years ago, Sense8 is back this year with an even more masterful and explosive season 2. The cast is as good as ever and forms a perfect group. The plot progresses well, without slowness, and offers us magnificent scenes. Our sensitives are starting to master their powers, and every moment they work together is great. The sets, the direction, the script do not disappoint once. The only downside here is the cancellation of the series by Netflix, which the platform is trying to make up for with a special episode to conclude the series.

Bates Motel, season 5

Morgan I : Bates Motel hit hard for its final installment. Although based on Hitchcock's Psycho, the series takes liberties with the film, which keeps the surprise going until the end. After 5 seasons, it's heartbreaking to see Norman get lost in the meanders of his mind. This final season put a magnificent end to a gripping and emotional story. Special mention to the resolution of the plots of Alex Romero and Dylan that make a few tears flow!

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., season 4

Imane H : My favorite series this year was Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. which had a particularly excellent fourth season. This season was of a higher level in all areas. The storylines were complex and interesting, the acting was very good, the character evolution was constant and remarkable, and the technology was incredibly futuristic – which I really liked. Every week, I waited to see the new gadgets and tools used as it was so exciting and well done ! Notice to all the curious and tech fans, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is for you!

The Crown, season 1

Clementine : Peter Morgan's Netflix series The Crown was a huge revelation this year! Being already a fan of actor Matt Smith, the cast of this first season only amazed me even more in front of the talented actors who play the main roles of this series-biopic. Not to mention of course the sublime and powerful images that can be found in almost every shot, The Crown is a sparkling diamond in the rough of talent !

Snatch, season 1

Johanna : We take the ingredients of Guy Ritchie's cult film, shake it up and we get a great series. Our three characters form a band of broken arms and the least we can say is that they will see all the colors. It's funny, it's well done. A must-see !

The Handmaid's Tale, season 1

Ghju l : Arriving in France on OCS max on June 27, Handmaid's Tale is the series everyone is talking about at the beginning of summer. It plunges us into a terrifying dystopia where the last fertile women are reduced to sexual slavery to perpetuate themselves. For me, this is the best series of the year: as captivating as it is scary, The Handmaid's Tale keeps its promises !

The Big Bang Theory, season 10

Mistico : If the series has recently been the subject of many criticisms, some of which criticized it for its lack of renewal for a long time, the writers have been ableto breathe new life into the series during this season by exploiting new personality traits of the characters. A successful season 10 from one end to the other !

Big Little Lies, season 1

Mandchine : Big Little Lies is THE revelation of this year : suspense plot, difficult subjects rarely addressed on TV with so much realism (rape, marital abuse, adultery …), 4-star cast (Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley, Zoe Kravitz, just that!), a realization thought out in every detail, a meticulous photography, a soundtrack among the best of recent years … In short, I could praise it for a long time but the best is simply to watch and appreciate !

OUR FLOPS

Scream Queens, season 2

Morgane I : After the success of the first season, Scream Queens was renewed with great hope. Very bad idea because the series has lost all its originality and its innovative side. Season 1 was a caricature of teenage horror movies, in this season 2 it becomes a caricature of herself. The characters are unbearable and without depth, and the plots are meaningless. The cleaver has also fallen: there will be no season 3, here is good news!

Once Upon A Time, season 6

Imane H : My big disappointment this year was Once Upon A Time which I found really boring. This sixth season was dragging, repetitive, a little too (badly) romanticized with sometimes empty dialogues and a really disappointing ending. The characters hardly evolve (except Regina) and we feel that the writers do not really know where to go. I was not, personally, a fan of the musical episode. I had the impression that the series was intended for a very young audience as the storylines were superficial…In short, a big flop that signs, for me, the end of the series.

Cécile : The series continues, year after year, to disappoint us. A plot seen and reviewed, characters not dug enough, special effects (very) average … Only positive point of the season: the musical episode, which offered us a very pleasant moment and was really welcome. Despite this, this season deserved to be the last, but unfortunately a new one will see the light of day, without the vast majority of the main actors.

Making History, season 1

Johanna : If the trailer announced a rather nice series, in fact, it's not that. The scenario is weaker than expected and what was funny in the trailer disappeared, once the pilot launched. Next!

Gotham, season 3

Rémi : The DC universe of Batman continues to amaze us. Gordon and his team keep bumping into the future enemies of the Dark Knight, and we can't help but feel a certain disappointment despite the few qualities of the show. Indeed, with Bruce Wayne embarking on his quest for masked vigilante at the end of the season, and some villains who are somewhat distorted, the series takes a turn that could have been avoided. To be continued in the next season…

Pretty Little Liars, season 7

Mandchine : A botched ending for a series that has lost interest for years. Let's be honest, we all kept watching to know the end of the story, and once again, nothing stands up. Everything is far-fetched and the final revelation makes us feel like a big joke and is brought with the usual big hooves. Nothing to remember from this series, except the 7 years wasted in front of our screen. The only positive thing is that the series is well and truly over. WHEW!

It must be admitted that the incredible growth in the number of series we are offered each year makes it very difficult to select! And you, what did you think of this 2016-2017 season?
