The rap group Columbine has a new album Adieu Bientôt dans les poches. It will be released on September 28. In the meantime, the eponymous title to the album has been unveiled.
Adieu Bientôt is the second track released by the artists before the official release of the album. Succeeding the very delicate Cache-Cache, Adieu Bientôt is less addictive than the first.
Weapons and birds
The piece suffers from too much autotune. Columbine has accustomed us to using this audio sleight of hand a lot. However, on Adieu Bientôt, the song almost comes to lack authenticity. If the new titles are more refined than the old ones, we preferred the natural voices Clubbing for Columbine period.What we keep of the primary identity of Columbine in this title are the words of aesthete poets a little perched, very strong images put end to end, sometimes polysemic.
Speaking of polysemy, the cover of the album (which could very well bear the name "Enfants Terribles" again), recalls the delicate position of the group between violence and freedom. The oldest child carries a gun, a reference to the Columbine shooting, as the second carries a bird, playing on the name Dove. It is in a way the logo of the group (the machine gun dressed with wings) in spare parts.

In Adieu Bientôt , we love the instrumental, which recalls the tragic scenes in western gangster movies, with sounds a little music box. We feel melancholic with this "Goodbye Soon" which suggests an announcement of departure, but not right away. Of course, a great strength of Cache Cache and Columbine sounds in general are their music videos, which are an indispensable part of their universe. We are waiting for the clip of Adieu Bientôt (and then the rest of the album), to discover all the parts of this text.
Punchlines and references "à la Columbine"
The song does not have the poetry of Cache Cache, although it expresses feelings of love. A rich sound, at the dawn of a highly anticipated album
"Goodbye Soon", chanted by Lujipeka and Foda C remains in the head like a tragic love song. It's a hard-hitting, effective sound, with references from high school years, movies and more metaphysical subjects (climate, depression, loneliness), a little soft, a little raw, very Columbine. We understand the pain, the confinement within a city and an overly standardized existence, the weariness and boredom. Goodbye soon; Leaving to save oneself from this distress or to die, "fingers in the socket"?
