The Compagnie des Dramaticules offers a crazy and colourful version of Don Quixote. To discover until October 9 at Théâtre 13.

Friday, September 9, second performance for the Don Quixote of the Compagnie des Dramaticules at Théâtre 13, the public is at the rendezvous, curiosity on the lookout. We know the Dramaticules: we risk taking full view, ears and zygomatics … At the décor left in plain sight, we say that we will not be disappointed. Stage manager, a cardboard horse at the bottom half hidden behind a banquet table, courtyard, haystacks, cactus, always cardboard, giant fan …

An abundant scenography to try to transcribe the journey and the adventures of this river novel… But by the way, why Don Quixote? How to go from novel to stage? How to translate into English the "language of Cervantes" without betraying the text? How to condense a 1500-page book into two hours of show? So many questions that spectators could ask themselves… With the help of the actors hidden among the audience, Jérémie Le Louët, director and actor Don Quixote responds. In a parody of stage edge or interview, Jérémie-Don Quixote accompanied by his interpreter-Sancho Pansa sets the tone of the show: a burlesque adaptation, both free and nostalgic of the adventures of a marginal, utopian and clumsily hero. Then follows the epic, the scenes succeeding one another between theater, video, narrative at the microphone. Even if it is better to know the original story of Cervantes to follow the adventures of this teeming adaptation. The staging is full of simple but clever finds and the actors are both surprising and endearing.

Jérémie Le Louët and his friends pay tribute with this Don Quixote oscillating between respect for tradition and assertive modernity to the novels of chivalry that have rocked our dreams of children's adventures.

If the cardboard atmosphere scratches the myth and makes it more accessible, the speech, tirades and dialogues on the other hand sketch a real bias: the existence in each era of heroes certainly misunderstood and fighting against mills, but knights with a sad face carrying values and hopes that irrigate society.
