The rapper Nekfeu will take his first steps in the cinema in a role radically removed from his character.

Described by its director as a "romantic film noir", Everything Separates Us will also be an opportunity for the rapper Nekfeu, Ken Samaras of his real name, to rub shoulders with big names in the profession such as the great Catherine Deneuve and the no less confirmed Diane Kruger. Taking place in Sète and Perpignan, the shooting, which will take place between early June and mid-July, will give consistency to a story where the two women, mothers and daughters from the bourgeoisie, will find themselves linked with two childhood friends from the cities, camped by Nekfeu and Nicolas Duchauvelle, following a disappearance. Blackmail, social cleavage, and adversity will then be part of the game as their respective worlds will unravel as and when a plot that is already very hostile. Questioned by our colleagues from Allociné, the director returned to his choice to cast the rapper in his film. And surprisingly, it is more to his face than to his talents as a singer that Nekfeu owes his baptism of cinematographic fire:

"I like to mix experienced actors with newcomers. I came across a picture of him while writing. I liked what he gave off."

While waiting for other information, we only know that Ken Samaras, his real name, will leave his rapper costume to take on that of a character who "is not at all inspired by what he is in life," says the director. We had already seen Kaaris in the cinema in Braqueurs, so we can wonder if this presages the beginning of a new era for rap that would become more popular, finally accepted by other artistic circles? In any case it is one of the objectives of the Fennec who signs one of his singles Egérie by "You see this image that people have of rap? We're going to change that…».

The production is handled by Les Films du Kiosque and Nolita Cinéma, with MyFamily.
