A return of the Halliwell sisters to television? The project has been in the air for almost three years, but this time, it seems to be on the right track! A sequel to Charmed ? Not quite!

In recent years, producers have been closely interested in a possible sequel to the series Charmed, broadcast for 8 seasons between 1998 and 2006 on the WB. Throughout the 178 episodes, we followed the three Halliwell sisters (Shannen Doherty, Alyssa Milano and Holly Mary Combs at the beginning and then Rose McGowan) in their magical adventures. In 2013, CBS announced that it was working on a reboot project, but there has been no news since.

This time, it is the American channel CW that seems to be interested in a return of the series… in the form of a prequel! Indeed, the action of this new series would take place in the 70s and would focus on the ancestors of the Halliwell sisters, who, it is recalled, come from a long line of powerful witches, the Warren! The action of the series would take place in New England and we would discover those who are called the most powerful witches of the Charmed series.

In the production of this prequel, we find the team in charge of Jane the Virgin, and more specifically the creator Jennie Snyder Urman and the producer Brad Silverman. A pilot is already written by Amy Rardin and Jessica O'Toole, the duo to whom we owe the ephemeral spin-off of Sex in the City, The Carrie Diaries. Brad Silberling, director of the film The Disastrous Adventures of the Baudelaire Orphans in 2004, will take care of the pilot.

At this point, we don't know the new heroines or the exact story. We can doubt the presence of the actresses of the original series, Alyssa Milano, Shannen Doherty (suffering from cancer for a few months), Holly Mary Combs or Rose McGowan, given the time chosen. But nothing prevents you from hoping for a small cameo all the same?

With 178 episodes, and good ratings for the time, Charmed remains one of the most emblematic series of its generation, with Buffy the Vampire Slayer. We will not fail to keep you informed of the future of this future series, especially if the American channel CW decides to order it for next season!
