Australian Cate Shortland is preparing to take on the role of director on the film Black Widow. This feature film signed Marvel has been announced for a long time but finally becomes a reality thanks to the announcement of its future director by The Hollywood Reporter

It is therefore after having directed three feature films, including Lore in 2012 and Berlin Syndrome in 2016, that Cate Shortland launches as director of one of the films of the Marvel universe. One imagines that the choice must not have been easy for the production. Indeed, it is in front of sixty candidates that it has imposed. The British Amma Asante (director of Belle , released in 2014), the American Kimerly Peirce (director of Boys Don't Cry, released in 2000) and even the French Mélanie Laurent were among the many candidates.

Obviously, actress Scarlett Johansson will resume her role of black widow that she holds since the second part of the adventures of Iron Man.

After Iron Man, Captain America and The Avengers, thisnext spin-off dedicated to Natasha Romanoff (the black widow) will learn more about her and her life. This Russian spy appeared as Iron Man's enemy in the 1964 comic book. The film will be a prequel to the adventures of the Avengers in Infinity War (released in 2018).

Unfortunately for all fans, this spin-off does not yet have a shooting date and even less a release date. Nevertheless, the next appearance of the character of Black Widow with Scarlett Johansson will be in 2019 when the sequel to Infinity War is released.
