Notice to fans! The CW has just announced the commission of the Black Lightning series, a new creation by Greg Berlanti.
It is gradually becoming THE channel of comic book adaptations on television. The American channel CW has just announced the order of a pilot for Black Lightning, the latest project of Greg Berlanti (we advise you to take a look at the file dedicated to him !).
The first African-American superhero in the DC Comics universe, Black Lightning will make its debut, if all goes well, next season in the Arrow-Verse (Arrow, The Flash, DC's Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl). A nice blow for the channel which recovers the series abandoned by FOX.
Black Lightning, whose civilian name is Jefferson Pierce, is a fictional character by Tony Isabella & Trevor Von Eeden. He first appeared in Black Lightning #1 in April 1977. The TV series was created by Mara Brock and Salim Akil, to whom we already owe Being Mary Jane or Girlfriends.
The CW describes the series:
"Jefferson Pierce has made his choice: he has been unhooked from his superhero costume and his secret identity for years. But with his daughter determined to justice and a star student who is recruited into a local gang, the latter will be forced to return to service and fight under the costume of Black Lightning "
A pilot has been ordered by Warner and the CW, it remains to wait to see if the project would please to hope to enjoy it next season!
