The star of the now famous series Mr Robot will embody the mythical Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody, the biopic on the life of the singer.

Bohemian Rhapsody has been part of Hollywood's cursed projects for several years. The idea had been mooted, developed and then slowly sinked, only to finally emerge a few hours ago. Things are moving again and the biopic could well have found its main actor: Rami Malek. Having recently won an Emmy Award for his performance in Mr Robot, the young actor will play one of the greatest musical icons of the 20th century: Freddie Mercury.

At the origins of the project, the role was to be attributed to Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat) who unfortunately abandoned ship in 2013. A few months ago, he explained the reasons for his departure to Variety magazine, and they were more artistic disagreements with the other members of the group:

"There are incredible stories about Freddie Mercury. This guy was wild. He lived a life of extreme debauchery. There are stories of… Small people with plates of cocaine on their heads, walking around for an evening. […] The problem, and I think that's the case for any biopic […] , is this: if you have control over your rights and your history, why not describe yourself as the best you can be? […] It becomes a less interesting film, but you have to keep in mind that they want to protect the legacy of their band, they want it to be about Queen. And I totally understand. " (Words translated by Konbini)

Fox then announced the arrival of a new director. It will be Bryan Singer, to whom we owe some X-Men and who is currently working on his next film 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. The director published a few hours ago the following image on his Instagram account, then identifying Rami Malek as the new face of Freddie Mercury.

For now, we are still skeptical and we still advise Rami Malek to grow a mustache and try a little concealer before getting into the skin of our mythical Freddie… No shooting date has yet been announced, but we are waiting for it, hoping that this time will be the right one!
