While we learned last Friday that the latest film in the Batman franchise had found a director in the person of Matt Reeves, the situation would have changed completely in the day. The Hollywood Reporter tells us that negotiations would have been cut short between the director of Cloverfield and the future part of the Planet of the Apes, Supremacy and Warner Bros. Studios.
This withdrawal follows that of Ben Affleck, screenwriter and main actor on the project who first intended to assume the responsibility of director. The latter abandoned this option, overwhelmed by the gigantic work that this prospect promised him. Regarding his replacement, very quickly approached by the studio, nothing is definitively established. Once time has passed and tempers have calmed down, negotiations may have to resume, according to THR once again. If the deal fails again, Warner could turn to Ridley Scott and Fede Alvarez, both tipped for the job.
Having become a priority for the studio, Batman is not the only superhero preparing his return. Note that Aquaman will also have his own opus whose shooting is scheduled for this summer, led by the director of Fast and Furious 7 James Wan.
