Going to the theatre is always a surprise, a surprise of discovery or rediscovery. Allowing the public to discover a play in a new light, in an original way, is rare, even very rare if we are talking about one of the greatest classics of French theatre, Le Tartuffe. Focus on Molière's 40,000 Tartuffe, an original piece presented at TMG. The Tartuffe is one of Molière's best-known plays, the story of a false devotee who over-manipulates fragile targets. A play of the most controversial in its time but which knows how to find a new youth in this staging. TARTUFFE LES 40 000 4877681478199926255 2 Molière's 40000 Tartuffe, an original piece0

Our review of the play Les 40 000 Tartuffe

The 40,000 Tartuffe. The idea is simple and takes into account the fact that theater is an art of the moment where on an improvisation everything can change, on a slack of one of the actors or on an audience little receptive, everything little change. Here, it's taken to the extreme. The distribution first of all, it changes with each performance according to the choices of the audience.  Tartuffe is ten interchangeable characters according to the will of the public at the beginning of the performance. Balloons are sent to the public, whoever catches one chooses who will play what role. A woman can play a male role and vice versa. Once everything is decided, the piece begins, with obviously with a deep respect for the original work. An ending is chosen by the troupe before the beginning of each performance, good or bad, the choice is made. Thus, we can rediscover a new piece at each performance. So we go from novelty to novelty. Simplicity is the main impression of this staging, only chairs with the names of the characters allow us to find our way when the characters are off stage. When they are present, an accessory allows us to identify them at first glance. Simple certainly, but how effective! Thus, we can only advise you too much to go there, in this small theater of the 18th, which offers a renewal, a good revival of a play so important in the great history of French theater.
