The Warrior Nun series, created by Simon Barry and adapted from the comic book series "Warrior Nun Areala", is the type of underside series that we start without much conviction but that manages to surprise and seduce us quickly thanks to its original and surprising scenario.
What is the story of Warrior Nun?
After being miraculously resurrected, Ava (Alba Baptista), a 19-year-old orphaned and quadriplegic woman, discovers that she can walk again and that she possesses incredible divine faculties that are highly coveted. She then decides to flee but is quickly caught by warrior sisters ready to do anything to recover her and fight their common enemies at her side. The series features endearing characters evolving over the episodes, action with many fight scenes perfectly choreographed and directed by the actresses themselves, varied scenery passing from the city to the mountains and plunging us into the heart of Andalusia but also the Vatican, as well as a scenario as original as it is surprising.
Warrior Nun season 2: a story in the heart of Europe
The second season makes us travel more in Europe and offers more diversified action scenes and still well choreographed. Despite a slow start to the second season, the series still manages to captivate us and make us want to continue to discover all the secrets that Warrior Nun has in store for us. The series is a real breath of fresh air because sprinkled with a few touches of humor to lighten the dramas of the scenario. There is an unorthodox mix between religion and science. Warrior Nun values women and demonstrates inclusivity on many levels, including highlighting the LGBTQ community. Nevertheless, Netflix has announced that there will be no season 3 to the series, certainly because of its too low audiences. However, we still recommend that you watch (and even binge-watch) this series that is worth the detour and changes series usually offered on Netflix.
