One of the most beautiful creations of the artist Franquin, is undoubtedly the gaffer Gaston Lagaffe who has been raging in the comic strip world since 1957. Our professional gaffer is celebrating his 60th birthday this year.
Various events were held to celebrate the exploits of an atypical character. One of the high places of art in Paris, the BPI of the Centre Pompidou, devoted an exhibition to him for a fairly long period. It took place from December 2016 to April 2017. It was a good opportunity to discover this anti-hero from different angles.
At the first reading of an album by Gaston Lagaffe, we do not usually dwell on the motivations of this genius inventor. Then, when you go back and think carefully about your particular choices, your thought paths, you understand why this character is so popular decades after its creation.
In the album that will be released on October 20 by Dupuis, you will find different plates from the work of contemporary artists who wanted to pay tribute to him. Some are unpublished, others were published in Spirou's journal.
