Broadcast in France since 2011, the series Once Upon a Time will see its seasons 1 to 3 available on Disney+, on August 7. The opportunity for Just Focus to look back on the first three seasons of this audiovisual adaptation of fairy tales. Once Upon a Time narrates the rewritten adventures of the characters of our childhood. Some of them embody several, such as Mr. Gold (Robert Carlyle) who sometimes plays the Beast, sometimes the Dwarf Tracassin – among others. Added to it are characters specific to the series, such as Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison), actually daughter of Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) and her prince charming (Josh Dallas). In addition, some of the actors were already known to the general public. Jennifer Morrison is one of them, having played in Dr House or How I Met Your Mother. Some also have a career in film, such as Robert Carlyle or Rebecca Mader. Ginnifer Goodwin (Snow White) & Lana Parrilla (The Evil Queen)

Crossed universes

Once Upon a Time has the specificity of crossing the characters and reinventing the links between them – even when they do not belong to the same work. The Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla) from Snow White , for example, has for sister Zelena (Rebecca Mader), the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz. Robin Hood (Sean Maguire) also has an affair with the Evil Queen, seemingly saving her from her darkness. These are just some examples of character rewrites. Those of Alice in Wonderland, rub shoulders with those of Peter Pan or Doctor Frankenstein. A curse as a starting point

The links between these different worlds are all the more numerous because in Storybrooke, the inhabitants have no memory of those they once were. Emma Swan is destined to break the bad spell, to the point of being seen as a threat by the city's mayor, Regina Mills, once Evil Queen. Some villains sometimes join, over these three seasons, the camp of the good guys. Others bear the brunt of their bad deeds in the world of storytelling. Alliances are then forged, new characters are integrated into the plots. Creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis always skillfully juggle universes, sometimes radically opposed, even in terms of temporalities. However, there are sometimes too many characters at once, which disturbs the main plots. However, we can recognize that creators go to the end of their stories, exploiting them to the maximum. Once Upon a Time has long been one of the most popular rewrites of the genre. However, it was cancelled in its seventh season, due to a lack of audience. Nevertheless, it remains a series to discover, adapted to all audiences.
