As part of his European tour, Tom Grennan gave us an unforgettable concert at the Café de la Danse on September 18th.

Singer Tom Grennan unveiled last summer his debut album Lighting Matches which was quickly accompanied by the announcement of a European tour that stopped in Paris on September 18 at the Café de la Danse. We did not hesitate a single second to let ourselves be charmed by the British!

Sophie and the Giants, the beautiful discovery

Sophie and the Giants was the beautiful unexpected discovery of this evening. A British band from Sheffield led by the impressive voice of Sophie Scott. For its first Parisian concert, the band showed ease on stage by communicating regularly with its audience while confiding that they were very happy to be there tonight. After playing their few songs that convinced us including Monsters, they left the room thanking us.

During the concert, we were facing a British singer who never stopped communicating with his audience, he said it at the end of his first title with a "Good evening Paris" chanted through the room to then ask how we were doing and that it was crazy tonight. Then added that even though it was Tuesday night we were going to have fun. The set continued with Praying who was rewarded at the end with a ton of applause that will make Tom laugh embarrassed by all this recognition.

After Tom Grennan said that we were impressive, then came the turn of Lighting Matches also title of his first album released this summer as he told us. During this chorus, the whole Café de la Danse chants the "Nah-nana-nah-nah-nana-nah". We can even see the British singer comtemplering his audience with a smile on his face. Then he followed up with Make 'Em Like You and Little By Little Love. Moreover, he confessed to us that the latter was his favorite title of the album, he was clearly acclaimed at the end of his interpretation.

For the next track, Tom asked us if we were ready to dance, the answer was a general yes and everyone went wild on Barbed Wire, it was also the moment when the singer dropped the jacket. An act that was largely encouraged by the audience tonight.

After making us dance, the British told us that now the atmosphere would soften with Lucky Ones, a song usually dedicated to his mother. Even though it is a softer piece, Tom Grennan always encouraged his audience to sing along with him. The concert continued with Aboard and Run in The Rain, and at the end of these songs he confessed that it was really hot at night and sweaty in places he didn't even think existed. Everyone laughed, but we understood him so much being a victim of this heat too. He then started Secret Lover but suddenly during the performance he did not remember the lyrics which makes him laugh as well as his audience. He confessed at the end in his defense that they were watching us and thinking about how much time he was, we obviously forgive Tom very quickly.

The concert continued with I Might, and a surprise guest: Naya, for their duet Coming Back To You. A guest whose only positive side was to be able to hear Tom sing two sentences in French… But it quickly disappeared to give way to the hits Sober, Found What I've Been Looking For.

The concert ended with Tom Grennan accompanied only by his guitar on stage for an acoustic version of Something in the Water that gave us many chills. A simple finale that testified to the undeniable talent of the singer who we hope will return very soon to the capital.
