It is in a relaxed atmosphere, surrounded by her family and some curious people, that Nell presented her first album, Not That Sleek, at the Candy Shop. A great moment of complicity!

If we really enjoyed listening to her first album, it was live that Nell completely seduced us. Close, funny, tender and talented, the young woman has everything to conquer a wider audience.

Nell, a release party like at home

The setting of the Candy Shop is a small bar on Rue Saint Maur, in the Oberkampf district. The kind of place that is a little out of the way and that does not look like much from the outside. But what a pleasure to find inside a small stage on which gathered, guitar in hand, some folk singers or French song, opening Nell's release party.

At the entrance, Nell greets her audience: a broad smile, overflowing enthusiasm and stress that she hides as best she can.We can't wait, as much as she does, to see her on stage. And when the time comes, we are trembling with impatience in the room.

When she goes on stage, it is accompanied by Marco, with whom she made her first album, and JP at the cajòn and the machines.

Not That Sleek

From the first chords, it's a thrill. This authentic and very invested voice takes us to the guts. Versus is the first track she interprets from her first album. She introduces almost every song about their story or why she wrote them. So she jokes about writing a song about iZombie, confesses that Gloria is one of the first titles she composed. It makes us shudder on Our Reality before making us nostalgic on Teenage Dreams. She declares her love on Sometimes before going on to a powerful and convinced I Yell Louder . She talks about the superficiality of our society by evoking I Forgot To Be Pretty.

His set will be interspersed with nice surprises like a cover of Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin or I Want you Back by Jackson 5, which will take turns of MmmBop in the audience. She will also admit to being a fan of the first hour of Hanson. She will also offer us a title of her group Former Life : Sick And Crazy by offering us to become one.

Rappel: She Is

She will abandon us on She Is, in all simplicity, a song that everyone can cover. No need to know the lyrics: Eho, Nananana! A unifying and super catchy song that stays in the head, perfect to end a concert!

Shared generosity

To our delight, Nell takes the time to talk between each song, worrying if everything goes well, if we have a good evening. The exchanges become more and more relaxed as the concert progresses. What used to be a bit of stress turns into a beautiful energy. We feel a very strong complicity between Nell and her audience. She knows some very well, others less so, but all seem close to her.

Between good words and jokes, she will make us smile, laugh, scream, shiver, almost cry. A lot of tenderness, a little anger, she tells us in all sincerity her desires, her funny and funny anecdotes, her favorites, her teenage loves … For example, she tells us about her recent trip to Italy and her deplorable English. The public is getting caught up in the game and we have more and more the impression of being at a meeting between friends of which we are well and truly a part.

Another strong point, she already has a great sense of the stage and her experience with Former Life is affected. She inhabits space and knows how to optimize every square centimeter. She has a beautiful aura and charisma that makes its effect throughout the concert. A beautiful presence on stage and she already knows how to spare her small effects while keeping freshness, humility and a lot of spontaneity.

Nell is the kind of artist you'd like to have among your friends; A bubbly young woman, full of repartee and good humor who has no equal to talk about a subject that touches us. Her voice is truly a gift and her palette of timbre, a richness that she enjoys with ease. We come out of this concert with a desire to see her again, to listen to her again and to share a drink.
