Ron Howard, the director of Solo: A Star Wars Story, already talks about the potential sequels to his film while it is not yet released. Scheduled in French theaters on May 23, the success of this new spin-off will certainly decide the extension of the adventures of the young Han Solo.

Doubts around a possible sequel to Solo: A Star Wars Story are only multiplying. At the end of April, actor Alden Ehrenreich had already confirmed to Esquire magazine that he would play Han Solo in three films:

"Three (movies) I don't know if it's officially, uh, audience. But yes."

Now, it's director Ron Howard's turn to feed the rumor, even if he indicates that there have been no fixed decisions regarding the sequel:

I think the fans are going to define all of that. I mean I think Lucasfilm and Disney in choosing the actors, and especially the younger ones, want to see what's going on and build on that. Certainly, they want the commitment of young actors, but there are no concrete projects. I think there was a lot of creative energy and now marketing energy behind this film.

However, we must put things into perspective. Disney had expressed its doubts regarding the reception that the spin-off on Han Solo would receive. The first figures for cinema ticket bookings are optimistic and would perhaps explain Ron Howard's enthusiasm to express his opinion on a potential sequel. Will the adventures of Han Solo be the subject of a trilogy or will we find the young Han Solo in other films of the Star Wars saga?

Lucasfilm's schedule is already very compact but the character of Han Solo still seems to have a lot to tell. We just have to make some room…
