Paris Games Week is an unmissable event for gamers. From October 26 to 30 at the Porte de Versailles, players will be able to discover the latest in video games but also meet the main players in the sector. JustFocus takes stock to know everything about this new edition.
There are events that gamers know and can't miss. Among them are E3 in the United States and Gamescom in Germany. In France, the players are not left out. During the last days of October at the Porte de Versailles, Paris Games Week (PGW) will offer a major playground to video game fans. From the tests of the latest and next games to the cosplayer contests, this new edition promises five fun days full of surprises.
What's new at Paris Games Week 2018
This year again, Paris Games Week invites professionals from the video game industry, gamers and the curious. Announced by the S.E.L.L (Union of Leisure Software Publishers), the event returns for a ninth edition under the sign of diversity and the promotion of Pop-Culture. For five days, all the actors of the video game universe will be able to: exchange around the common theme of video games. They will also be able to taste the novelties present during this new edition thanks to the many publishers on site. To allow visitors to find their way around, the organizers of the PGW have put online the list of novelties and games that will be present.
Events not to be missed
Paris Games Week does not only allow you to test many video games and hardware at all costs. The show is also a great opportunity to highlight other events.
Cosplay
This year, two cosplay contests will be held. These competitions allow amateur and professional cosplayers to show the extent of their talent and parade in front of an often amazed audience. For the theme of video games, it will happen on Saturday, October 27. For more global creations, the appointment is given on Sunday, October 28.
Tournaments and competitions
As every year at the PGW, eSport is in the spotlight. Fans will attend competitions and tournaments of their favorite games and players. The Electronic Sports League (ESL), the ESWC (eSports World Convention), Ubisoft, Nintendo and Playstation will be the main organizers of the competitions and tournaments that will take place during these five days of the show. It is at Counter Strike, HearthStone, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, Splatoon 2 or Fifa 19 that the best players will compete.
Paris Games Week Symphonic
What would video games be without music? For the year 2018, the PGW also pays tribute to the composers (all too often forgotten) of the music of the most famous games. The Paris Games Week Symphonic event will offer a unique concert at the Dôme de Paris on Saturday, October 27 at 8 pm. In the presence of the Yellow Socks Orchestra and its choirs, spectators will be able to (re)listen and enjoy the music of mythical games such as The Legend of Zelda, Pokémon (with the participation of Jason Paige, the singer of the credits) or The Last of Us. This second edition already promises to be emotionally charged for fans.
A PGW for all
Paris Games Week is a show dedicated to everyone, not just inveterate fans of video games. To satisfy all needs, multiple spaces and thematic stands have been made available to visitors. The event is aimed at young and old and taking place during the All Saints' Day holidays, it is quite naturally that a junior space has been installed. Parents and their children will be able to spend a friendly moment with adapted, fun and educational games.
