Interview with Tusse. The singer, of Congolese origin, will represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with the song "Voices". In a few weeks there will be the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. After interviewing Elena Tsagrinou – the representative of Cyprus at the musical event, it is now Tusse's turn. The young singer, of Congolese origin, after triumphing in the last edition of "Swedish Idol", is ready to tread the Eurovision stage and present his new song to the general public: "Voices". Hi Tusse, thank you for accepting this interview. It is a pleasure for us to do an interview with you. Can you introduce yourself to those who don't know you? How did your passion for music come about? I am 19 years old, and I was born in Congo-Kinshasa. I came to Sweden at the age of eight. In 2018, I participated in "Sweden Got Talent", reaching the semi-finals. The following year, I won "Swedish Idol" and released my first single, "Rain". This year I showed up at "Melodifestivalen" with my song "Voice", with which I will represent Sweden at the next "Eurovision Song Contest". You could say that I have music in my blood thanks to my Congolese heritage and my culture of origin. When something happened, we sang and danced. In addition, every Sunday, we all sang together in church. So music has always been a big part of my life. When I arrived in Sweden, I continued to sing and dance, until today.
What was the experience of "Swedish Idol"? Who have influenced your artistic career until today?
"Swedish Idol" has been one of my best experiences in my entire life. I had a lot of fun every week, and I grew as an artist but also personally. I had fun covering songs by my favorite artists, like Whitney Houston, Jackson 5, James Brown. It was a great school for me: I was able to learn how to be on stage and in front of the cameras. In a little over two weeks, you will have the chance and opportunity to do a live performance on the stage of Rotterdam (city where there will be Eurovision 2021). How did your song "Voices" come about? I spent a lot of time there, having fun, with Joy Deb, Linnea Deb, Jimmy "Joker" Thörnfeldt and Anderz Wrethov, writers of the song "Voices". Before writing the song I'll sing Eurovision, we wrote a lot of songs together. A rather funny anecdote is that I had trouble recording this song: I was busy between a math test and the exam to take the driving license. But, thanks to the help of my school, I found the time to record the song… and here I am. What message would you like to share with the audience? My song "Voices" is a song about hope and that everyone deserves to be heard. There are a lot of people who don't have a voice and I would like my song to remind them that we are all born free and that each of us has a million opportunities and choices. All of us have feelings and thoughts. And that makes us stronger. I think we have more in common than differences. So no one should feel alone, because we all have this feeling sometimes, which means that we are actually not alone, we all feel the same way, we are similar. Did you ever imagine that you would arrive on such an important stage? What advice would you like to give to the new generation who would like to follow your artistic path? I would advise them to go. I would, of course, like to warn them of what the jurors might say and perhaps think about whether that's what they want to do, really. But, if they are close, I will tell them to embark on this new adventure. It's a lot of fun to participate in a program like "Swedish Idol": you can learn by acting on stage and do some practice in front of the cameras. An excellent school to find a new generation of artists. When you were younger, did you imagine that you would one day participate in the "Eurovision Song Contest"? It's always a big dream, since Loreen's performance with "Euphoria" in 2012. I was 10 years old at the time and I was very surprised by his ability to capture the audience with his voice. It's very important for me to represent Sweden at Eurovision: it's also a great platform to bring different countries together on the same stage. I always dreamed of doing a performance at Eurovision, in front of all of Europe. Do you have any plans for the future after your participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021? Which artist would you like to collaborate with? I will focus on work and my school homework so that I can graduate right after Eurovision. And, when I graduate from high school, I will devote myself entirely to music. We are preparing for an album after the summer with beautiful songs, including "Voices". I would like to be able to collaborate with Bruno Mars. I think he's the most awesome artist I know. He has a beautiful voice, great charm and swag. And he seems to be a really funny and awesome boy to hang out with and sing with. His voice is pure magic. Thank you again Tusse for your availability and … Good luck with this experience!
