Marie Den Baës is back at the Théâtre du Temps with her Memorendum on the life of Jean Louis Barrault "Sur l'homme, par l'homme et pour l'homme". Next performance Sunday, January 31, 2016.
On man, by man and for man an exciting moment
Sur l'homme, par l'homme et pour l'homme is the leitmotif of Jean-Louis Barrault, actor, director and theatre director. He was willing to give up all comforts to have the chance to go on stage and give the audience the gift of entertainment and emotion every night. He writes and stages the lives of men, in a human and sincere way, in order to offer them art and entertainment.
This Memorendum tells us about his life, in the first person, since it is a single one on stage interpreted by Marie Den Baës. We discover his beginnings in the theater, his meetings with Charles Dullin, the Comédie Française, his wife Madeleine Renaud, the cinema … We dive into his world, his professional challenges, his friendships. We discover a passionate man, a researcher, a visionary of the theater who took risks and staged contemporary plays such as Rhinoceros by Ionesco, Ah les beaux jours by Beckett and who popularized the texts of Paul Claudel.
A poetic piece that makes you want to follow your dreams
Marie Den Baës doesn't just disguise herself to play Jean-Louis Barrault. She truly embodies it with great sincerity. The love that Marie Den Baës has for this man of the theater is such that it also gives us the desire to love him and follow our dreams.
The text, well written, reveals step by step the information through scenes where Marie sometimes plays several characters. Beyond the text, the body is engaged, the staging interactive, which captures our attention from one end of the play to the other. We let ourselves be carried away by the poetry released by the actress and the character. Jean-Louis Barrault moves and raises us above Paris, on its rooftops, via a decor, simple, but also poetic.
